Dr. Hsiao is the founder
and former Dean of the School of Business at Southern Connecticut University
in New Haven. An economist, he was a member of the visiting faculty in
the University of Chicago (1968), Yale University (1982, 1987) and the
University of Connecticut (1984). He served as a consultant to a number
of organizations, including the Rockefeller Foundation and the United
Nations Development Programme. In a face-to-face meeting in 1998, he personally
made recommendations to Premier Zhu Rongji for China to initiate a program,
"Innovation Fund For Small Technology-based Firms", fashioned
after the U.S. SBIR program, which was enacted.
Dr. Hsiao is a co-founder
and chairman of the board of the sister company, US Nanocorp, and also
serves on the Board of Directors for Battery Intelligence, Inc. He has
considerable experience in business development and the establishment
of strategic alliances with international corporations. Most recently,
he has played a key role in the establishment of a Sino-US Cooperative
Joint Venture in Shanghai. |
